Arlene is an accomplished psychiatrist, researcher, educator and innovator who is a visionary global mental health systems leader. Her work sits at the intersection of psychiatry, research, mindfulness, and social innovation, with a long-standing commitment to advancing individual and collective flourishing through both inner and systemic change. She has led the development of transformative systems initiatives for mental health including CREATE Kenya, Global MINDS @ Western University, the MINDS of London-Middlesex - Canada’s first social innovation lab to tackle complex community mental health system challenges; and Biigajiiskaan: Indigenous Pathways to Mental Wellness - a groundbreaking reconciliation program that integrates the best practices of hospital psychiatric care with the wise practices of Indigenous Knowledge and Healing. She has authored over 50 publications and has been recognized as a global Young Physician Leader by the InterAcademy Partnership.
